GeoTomo
and Shell Announce High Resolution Joint Inversion of
Gravity and Seismic Data Development Project
GeoTomo LLC and Royal
Dutch Shell plc are pleased to announce a development
project for joint inversion of gravity and seismic data. It
will be the first commercially available tool of its kind,
and aims at creating high resolution near-surface velocity
models. It will contain both 2D and 3D applications, and
complement the existing near-surface velocity modeling tools
in GeoTomo¨s TomoPlus package, for which Shell and GeoTomo
announced development co-operation in October 2009.
Dirk Smit, Vice-President Exploration Technologies at Shell,
said: ^We believe recent new insights make joint inversion
of both high resolution gravity and seismic a powerful tool
to significantly enhance the resolution of near surface
velocity models. We look forward to applying this technology
in our onshore ventures ̄.
TomoPlus is GeoTomo¨s near-surface solution software
package. It is designed to obtain an accurate near-surface
velocity model with irregular geometry and rough topography,
and derive accurate long and short wavelength statics
solutions to help seismic data processing.

GeoTomo LLC (www.geotomo.com)
is specialized in developing land seismic data processing
technologies and offers software solutions for the oil and
gas industry worldwide. GeoTomo¨s software solutions
include modeling and survey design (VECON), near-surface
imaging and statics analyses (TomoPlus), land seismic data
processing workflows (ThrustLine and Thrust3D), 3D
wave-equation imaging (WaveMAP), 3D surface and downhole
seismic visualization (VISUS), etc. The company was
initially founded in Louisville, Colorado in 1998, and then
relocated to Houston in 2000. Currently GeoTomo is
supporting software users in forty-two countries.
