TomoPlus is a 2D/3D near surface solution
package developed by GeoTomo. It provides a powerful workflow
for reconstructing the complex near-surface velocity structures
by inverting the first-arrival traveltimes. The statics times
calculated from such a velocity solution can greatly help image
the subsurface structures.
GeoTomo¨s tomography approach is robust.
The tomographic solutions are nearly independent on the initial
models. The speed of TomoPlus tomography is fast, because sorting
is avoided in the raytracing calculation by using a buffer
mapping approach. For a 3D dataset with 25,000 shots,
TomoPlus
only requires 185Mb memory and will take about 20 hours to
complete the tomography job on a single CPU, 3.0 GHz PC.
TomoPlus is an automatic workflow. Starting
from picking the first arrivals and analyzing the traveltimes,
the program will automatically move from one step to the next
and manage all the file names in the database. Users will be
able to focus on the geophysical problems and QC issues. With
TomoPlus, obtaining tomostatics from seismic data is much easier
than refraction statics.
