VECON New Features and Fixes
|
|
|
This release is made on February 16, 2004. |

|
2D: Build Faults:
When building a complex, 2D model with many faults, faults added
to the model could sometimes cause problems with faults already
in the model. The earlier faults, and any layer segments they
cut, could no longer be selected for either editing or
raytracing. This problem has been corrected. It is also
recommended that when building 2D models with complex faulting,
create the layers first and then add the multiple faults. |

2D: Save Color
Settings: If
you have changed the color palette or the Continuous/Discrete
setting with the 2D Colors command, the changes can be saved for
future sessions. After making the changes, use File/Save
Project to update the project file. The new settings will now
be the defaults for the project. |
|
|
|
2D: Save Axis
Annotation:
Changes to the 2D model axis annotations made with the
Display/Edit Axis command can be saved for future sessions.
After making the changes, use File/Save Project to update the
project file. The new settings will now be the defaults for the
project. |
|
|
|
2D: Model Information
Table: In
the 2D Model Builder a new command, Model/Model Information will
display a table of all the layers and faults in the model. The
table will include the layer or object name, velocity, and
information on position in the model. This table is useful for
locating extra, hidden layers that may be inadvertently added
during 2D model building. |
|
|
|
2D: Delete Hidden
Layers:
Hidden layers can now be easily deleted in the 2D Model
Builder. When the Delete Layer icon is activated, move the
cursor slowly across the 2D model. As the cursor crosses any
layer, hidden or visible, the layer will be highlighted. Left
mouse click to delete the highlighted layer. |
|
|
|
3D: Select Bin Map
Shots: For
bin maps created from 3D reflection raytracing, you can now
easily identify the coverage area for any group of shots. When
viewing the bin map in the 3D Model Viewer and Raytracing Plan
View, select the new Shot-Ray Density Relation icon. Using the
cursor, drag and select a rectangle to include the shots of
interest. The bins containing reflections from the selected
shots will be highlighted. |
|
|
|
3D: New 3D Grid Model
Format: The
VECON 3D Grid Model file format has been changed from ASCII to
binary for improved efficiency. The program will read grid
models in either format so no changes are required for files
created with earlier versions. An ASCII/binary conversion
utility for grid models can be found under Model/Convert
Binary/ASCII in the 3D Model Viewer and Raytracing window. The
ASCII grid model files will have file extension .3mdl and the
binary grid models a file extension of .3mdlb. |

|
3D: Color
Correction for Solaris: For previous versions of VECON
objects always displayed in white on some Sun Solaris systems.
This has been corrected and the object colors can now be set
with the Colors/Object Model Color command. |
|
|
|
3D: Color Shading for 3D Model
Display: This change improves the 3D effects when
displaying layer and grid models, adding better dimension
effects for 3D display. |
|
|
|
3D: SEGY Generation for Pinchout
Model: When there are multiple layers merging together
creating pinchout structures and there is no more layer beneath
this stack of layers, previous versions may not generate SEGY
traces from 3D reflection raytracing. This problem is
fixed, and the new release can generate SEGY traces in any
pinchout model. |
